This was a great set that really made me wonder why I waited 22 years to see Steve Earle for a second time. The sound in this beautifully restored old theater was stellar, and the recording attests to that. It was great to hear some of my older favorites mixed in with nearly the entire I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive release. His songs are filled with personal tales of a hard life in an unfair world with a heavy dose of cynicism to keep the plots moving. Sure there are winners and good-guys, but to be elevated to that status often involves a long, uphill battle. I've recently compiled a list of my 101 favorite albums- Steve Earle's 1988 classic Copperhead Road made the list. It was during that tour that I first saw him live.
