Wussy (Duo) April 10, 2016 Shake It Records Cincinnati, Ohio

Last minute call to head to Cincinnati to see the Wussy duo in their last home-town appearance before their first full band tour of the UK later this month. I've heard them perform the "Forever Sounds" tunes several times now, and it was great to hear these stripped down versions, along with a couple Ass Ponys chestnuts. Wussy (duo) September 18, 2015 Big Room Bar Columbus, Ohio

I never tire of seeing Wussy, in whatever formation. For me, this night was particularly entertaining, despite both members of the duo not feeling well. Lisa was a little slow getting to the stage, so Chuck opened the show with what he explained would be the B-side to their first ever 7", a non LP cut from the upcoming album. He offered a certainly bogus title- in true Chuck fashion (UPDATE: the real title of the song is actually Folk Night At Fucky's). This was one of the two new songs they played. The set also included four Ass Ponys tunes and a couple I hadn't heard them play live recently (Bought It Again and Mayflies). The inclusion of "I Give You All" from the Public Domain Vol. 1 disc was a pleasant surprise as well. Speaking of Ass Ponys, there are reunion shows planned for November 6 and 7 at the Woodward Theater in Cincinnati. Tickets are available right HERE. Hats of to the Scrawl ladies for opening- they kicked it! It was great seeing Marcy and Sue playing together as a duo.

Wussy (Duo) September 20, 2014 Jeni's Ice Cream Stage Independent's Festival Columbus, Ohio

So the Independent's Festival was held in Franklinton this year. I found a spot on the Rehab Tavern's patio with a pretty decent view of the Jeni's Ice Cream Stage. Fired up the Edirol and also a JVC HD video camera and enjoyed the 40 minute set. Other than a faint rumble of a generator powering one of the food trucks, the recording came out pretty good.

We owe a great big "Thank You" to Richard Buckner for backing out of his scheduled appearance this night. Instead, the roughly 40 folks in attendance were treated to an hour and a half of duo format Wussy songs and stories. In the intimate space that is The Tree Bar, one could hear most of the audience sing along to their favorite Ass Ponys/Wussy tunes. We were even treated to a couple new songs "that's some shit that's gonna be on the new record, I think" targeted for an early 2014 release. Lots of lighthearted banter between songs kept us in stitches most of the night as both Chuck and Lisa seemed to be having a good time and were in great spirits. BIG FUN was had by all. Look for our friends at Shake It to release more of the back catalog on vinyl over the coming months.
